Chocolate Almond “Milk” Bliss

20170722_211430-1

Almond “milk” is so easy to make.  I have been skipping the soaking my almonds and straining them to make my “milk” lately. I felt like I was wasting all the protein that is in the leftover meal. Sometimes I don’t strain it for that reason. So instead of going through all that, I have been using raw almond butter with purified water, blackstrap molasses, cacao, mesquite powder, a pinch of iodized sea salt, and a little cinnamon. So delicious! I know I say that about almost everything that I make but it’s the truth! Check out the recipe below to give it a try.  You can also make it without the cacao for plain ole almond “milk” that’s better than the store brands and it has more protein! Store brands have 1 gram of protein or less, which is ridiculous. One cup of almonds has about 20 grams of protein, so what’s wrong with this picture? Don’t forget almonds and almond butter are high in fat but that shouldn’t stop you from making your own.

Let me know which way you decided to make your own almond “milk”.  Healthy Warriors are Wealthy Warriors!

Recipe:

1 1/2 cup of purified water

2-3 tbs of Almond butter…2 tbs=7 grams of protein

1 tbs of blackstrap molasses…you can replace with one pitted date, 1 tsp of honey or 1 tsp of maple syrup

1 tbs of cacao powder

1 tbs of Mesquite powder

a pinch of iodized sea salt….got to keep my thyroid in check

a pinch of cinnamon

vanilla extract is optional if you are leaving out the cacao and Mesquite powder

Happy Anniversary!!!

Two years ago I birthed my first baby. I went through so many labor pains with my publisher, lost a lot of money, and shut myself down for awhile. Then a year ago today, I felt the fear and  decided to do it anyway by sharing my baby as an eBook for the world to see.  I am thankful that I didn’t let my labor pains stop me from believing in my passion! I am also grateful for all of the support that I have received thus far.

The Original Carrot color! Did you know that carrots were purple before the 17th century? The orange ones were developed over a period of time by Dutch growers. I’ve been drinking carrot and lemon juice all week for my sunrise break-fast. How did you start your mornings this week? Leave a comment and share some recipes.
