Things to do:

Soak your nuts overnight. Use a coffee grinder to process your flax seeds. Peel and freeze your bananas overnight. Use more apples if needed. Use less ingredients if needed.  Enjoy!

Let me know what you think about these combinations…Health is wealth!!

Smoothie #1

1 cup of wild blueberries

1/2 cup of Pomegranate seeds..cut in half, place in warm water, press on the rind and the seeds will come out

1 1/2  cups of purified water

8 almonds (soaked overnight before using)

1 Brazil nut (soaked overnight before using)

3 walnuts (soaked overnight before using)

1/2 frozen banana..peel and freeze overnight

Add all of your ingredients to your blender or Nutribullet until smooth. Enjoy!

Smoothie #2

1 small avocado

1/2 of pineapple peeled and juiced

2 handfuls of spinach

3/4 cup of frozen raspberries

1/2 of lemon juiced

Peel the pineapple, cut it in half, and juice one half of it along with the 1/2 of lemon. Place the pineapple and lemon juice in a blender, with your small avocado, frozen raspberries, and spinach. Blend until smooth and enjoy!

Optional Smoothie *Breakfast*

1 small avocado

1 cup of wild blueberries

1 1/2 cups of Rice milk

Blend and enjoy!

Juice #1

5-6 leaves of kale

3 stalks of celery

2 Fuji or Gala apples…take the seeds out before juicing

1/4 lemon

1/2 cabbage (cut cabbage in half, then cut that half in half, use only 4 ounces per serving because too much at once will cause gas and bloating)

1 tablespoon of flax seeds..ground before using

Juice cabbage first, making sure to measure out 4 ounces for each serving that you plan to make. Each half of a half makes about 8 ounces. Continue with the rest of the ingredients. Pour in a jar, add your grounded flax seeds, whisk, and enjoy!!!!

Juice #2

6 carrots

1/2 of a bunch of cilantro

1-2 green apples..take the seeds out before juicing

1 small beet peeled

1/2 inch(thumb size is an inch) or more of ginger…the more the better for me

1 lime peeled

1 tablespoon of flax seeds..don’t forget to ground them before placing them in your juice

Juice the cilantro, ginger, and lime first. Add the beet, apples, and carrots next. Place in your favorite glass, add your grounded flax seeds, whisk it up, and FEAST ON!!!

Juice #3

5 leaves of Swiss chard

2 Fuji or Gala apples…take the seeds out before juicing

1/2 lemon

2 stalks of celery

1 tablespoon of flax seeds..you know what to do by now;-)

Juice the lemon, celery, Swiss chard, and apples, in that order. Add you grounded flax seeds, whisk, and sip slowly!

Optional Juice Recipe

3-4  collard leaves

2 Fuji or Gala apples

1 lemon

1/2 of ginger or more

2 stalks of celery

1 tablespoon of flax seeds

Process the ginger first, then add the rest of your ingredients.

Optional Juice Recipe

5-6 carrots

1 bunch of parsley*Parsley should be avoided during pregnancy because it stimulates the uterus and in cases of kidney inflammation

1 green apple

1 lime

1 tablespoon of flax seeds

Process the parsley first, then add the rest of your ingredients.

Plan of Action!

I put together this plan of action that you may find fits your lifestyle. Remember, nothing is carved in stone, do what works for you;-) This has worked for me over the past years and I have shared it with many of my friends in the past that loved the overall results. I plan to start my feast tomorrow, however, any week of January that works for you is the best time for you to start. The sooner the better;-)  I’ll also post recipes that you may follow and please share any of your recipes that you may use during the feast.

Here are a few things to remember before starting your feast:

  • Consult your doctor before starting any juice cleanse
  • Listen to your body!!
  • Start flushing your body with fluids, decreasing your caffeine, sugar and meat intake, and eating lighter meals 2-3 days prior to the start of your feast.
  •  Make sure to drink 8 oz. or more of water in between your juice feast.
  • The purpose is to cleanse and rebuild your digestive system, not to cleanse and shut it down.
  • Eating at the end of your short cleanse is essential for helping you feel full instead of starved. Meals should consist of only fruits and veggies. If you choose to eat fruit, please choose to eat it alone.

Here is the list of goodies that you will need for our five-day feast;-) Shop as if you are shopping for 2-3 days worth of produce. You may have to go back to the store by day four, but this list should hold you for a few days.  Organic is best, but do not worry if you can not get organic, just get the best looking locally grown  fruits and veggies.  You can mix white vinegar and water in a spray bottle to make a great homemade veggie wash.  See below for directions on how to use wash. Or you can buy, Veggie Wash,  from the store.  Health is Wealth!!!

3-4 bunches of Swiss chard

4-5 small to medium beets

3-4 bunches of celery

5 lb bag of carrots

2 bunches of cilantro

1 bag of whole flax seeds

1 box of green tea

1 box of herbal tea-Holy Basil, Lavender, Chamomile (if you can find loose leaf, that would be better)

a head of green cabbage

DIY Veggie and Fruit Wash

For Hard-skinned Fruits and Vegetables:

1. Fill a spray bottle with equal parts white vinegar and water.

2. Then, spray the solution onto your fruits and vegetables; rub it in; and rinse.

For Soft-skinned Fruits and Vegetables:

1. Fill a bowl with equal parts white vinegar and water.

2. Then, soak your fruits and vegetables in the solution for a minute or two, and rinse.

Why This Works

The acetic acid in vinegar kills bacteria and helps to dissolve the wax and pesticide residues found on the skins of many fruits and vegetables.

Five Day Juice Feast With A Twist

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday filled with love, laughter, peace, joy and lots of good food!! Now it’s time for a juice feast! Who’s with me? Starting tomorrow, I will be posting a feasting plan that you may follow with some of my favorite juice combinations. Our feast will still consist of eating whole foods during the day and feasting on juice in the evening…if this doesn’t work for you plan it to fit your lifestyle. I will also post a grocery list of items for you to get during the week.  Don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of support during the five day feast.

I have learned a lot about juice feasting over the past years from personal experience.  This isn’t about starving yourself, it’s about giving your pancreas, liver, kidneys, gallbladder, and stomach a break from working so hard this holiday season. Did you know that the pancreas plays an essential role in converting the food we eat into fuel for the body? Its main functions are to help with digestion and regulate blood sugar level. I’ll be posting more about the importance of enzymes and your pancreas this week. So, let’s focus on giving those organs a reboot. Remember to consult your doctor before starting your juice feast to determine if it is appropriate for you. Health is wealth!!
