I thought the five day juicing journey plan would help take the “What should I drink next” from your focus. You can substitute any of the juices with your own delicious blend. Try to focus more on your veggie blends than fruit blends, you’ll feel the difference. Please listen to your body! Drink 8oz. of water in between your feasting.  I sometimes add a scoop of RAW protein powder to my juices, which adds an extra ENERGY boost. Keep a journal of how you feel from start to finish…Health is Wealth!!!

Five-Day Juicing Fast!:

One day almost down and four more to go!!!!! We can do it!!!! Hooray goes out to Mr. Drew, my co-worker, for hanging on in there;-)))  He is going full throttle.  No more meat, fasting, and a new healthy outlook on life! I hope that the rest of you are going just as strong.  Try not to think about food, which I know is going to be hard.  There was a moment today when I thought about making a homemade veggie pizza, minus the cheese, and then I had to change my focus.  Now some of  you may be thinking, REALLY, veggie pizza!!!  But that is one of  my comfort foods. This journey is a mental challenge and I guess it is safe to say emotional, since the majority of us eat according to how we are  feeling  and/or  how the food makes us feel. We are going to change how our emotions respond to healthier food.  One day a tall green smoothie will be that emotional pacifier instead of  your favorite indulgent after a stressful day.  Keep it up and let me know how your first day went….Health is Wealth!!!!!

Five-Day Juicing Fast!!!

Are You Ready!!!!! YES!!! We are going to do this together again:-)  Five days to cleanse, get clarity, and maybe even lose a few inches;-)  Please remember to listen to your body on this journey.  If you are currently taking any medication talk to your physician before doing the fast.   You will be a little tired the first day or two, you may even get a headache, do not worry it’s just your body detoxing. PLEASE drink 64 ounces of water as you will find yourself going to the bathroom more, which could lead to dehydration!!!  If you feel that you can only do a few days, congratulate yourself and strive to add on a few more days next time.  I am not going to lie and say that this journey will be easy, yet, it will be worth it!!!  I have listed a few recipes that you can drink throughout the day for the next five days. I did not include the calorie content and such as I did for my smoothies, because it’s a fast! Little to no calories and/or fat.  Sugar content will be based on the apples which is about 23grams for a large one, about 6grams for small  beets,  about 9grams for 1 serving of pineapple,  oranges are about 23 grams, grapefruit has about 7 grams and about 18 grams for a medium papaya .  Natural sugar is the best, but we still have to be mindful of it.  If you come up with other great juice combinations, share, share,  BTW…you can store the juice in the refrigerator for up to 72 hours before all of the enzymes are depleted. Freezing right after you juice is even better;-))   This will help you save time in the morning.   Health is Wealth!!!

Swiss Beets:

1 medium beet-Peel outer layer off first

4 stalks of celery

1 lemon-Rinse and leave peel on

1 piece of ginger-About a thumb size

1 Granny Smith apple-Please take the seeds out before juicing.  Seeds are known to have a high level of cyanide in them.  Based on research, not 100% sure, but I always take the seeds out!

Joe Cross’s Mean Green Juice:

6 kale leaves

1 cucumber-Peeled

4 celery stalks

1/2 lemon

1 piece of ginger

2 Granny Smith apples

I Beg Your Parsley!:

1 handful of spinach

4-5 collard green leaves

1 lemon

1 peeled cucumber

1 small handful of parsley

3 chunks of pineapple

Zucchini  Mini:

2 handfuls of spinach

3-4 leaves of collard greens

3-4 stalks of celery

1 medium zucchini-Do not peel

4 chunks of pineapple

Orange Zinger:

2-3 carrots

1 piece of ginger- You may use less or more depending on your palate

1/2 lime

1 golden beet (small-medium)

*1 Granny Smith apple-Do not forget to take the seeds out before juicing

*Apple is optional

Sunrise Surprise:

1  large grapefruit-Peeled

1-2 oranges-Peeled

3 chunks of pineapple

1 piece of ginger

1/2 of a papaya-Peel and take the seeds out

1 lime or lemon-I prefer the lime, but the lemon is just as tasty.

3-4 chunks of pineapple

*Optional- I also added 1/2 of a grapefruit which gave it a twist;-)

Grocery List for Five-Day Juicing Fast:

Healthy Saturday to all of you! Here is the list of goodies that you will need for your five-day fast;-) Shop as if you are shopping for 2-3 days worth of produce. You may have to go back to the store mid-week, but this list should hold you for a few days.  Organic is best, but do not worry if you can not get organic, just get the best looking locally grown  fruits and veggies.  You can mix white vinegar and water in a spray bottle to make a great homemade veggie wash.  See below for directions on how to use wash. Or you can buy, Veggie Wash,  from the store.  Health is Wealth!!!

3-4 bunches of collard greens

3-4 bunches of swiss chard

4-5 small to medium beets

3-4 bunches of spinach

2-3 bunches of parsley

3-4 bunches of celery

4-5 cucumbers

4-5 zucchini

1 lb of ginger- Randazzo has the best ginger for the best price.  Usually 89 cents a pound!

1 bag of green apples

1 bag of golden delicious apples

1 bag of pears

2 pineapples

1 papaya

bag of medium to large lemons

3 limes

6-12 oranges

4-6 grapefruits

raw honey

DIY Veggie and Fruit Wash

For Hard-skinned Fruits and Vegetables:

1. Fill a spray bottle with equal parts white vinegar and water.

2. Then, spray the solution onto your fruits and vegetables; rub it in; and rinse.

For Soft-skinned Fruits and Vegetables:

1. Fill a bowl with equal parts white vinegar and water.

2. Then, soak your fruits and vegetables in the solution for a minute or two, and rinse.

Why This Works

The acetic acid in vinegar kills bacteria and helps to dissolve the wax and pesticide residues found on the skins of many fruits and vegetables.

Okay, so what do you do when you have an artificial sugar craving? Pucker up to this sweet and tangy smoothie to kiss that urge good-bye! It is a little higher in natural sugar than most of my smoothies. A great post workout rejuvenator!

1/2 cup of frozen or fresh grapes-Rinse and place grapes on a cookie sheet to freeze.  Spacing them out makes it easier to take off the sheet.

1 cup of filtered water

1 tsp of fresh juice from a lemon

Blend ingredients until smooth and enjoy the fruits of your labor;-)  Makes about 1-2 servings.

Calories= about 298     Fat=0g     Sugar= about 61g    * Protein=about 1g     Fiber=about 4g
